TypeWithin is built so that your most personal data — your answers — stays on your device. The little we do store exists only to unlock your purchase or to let you reopen a report you chose to save. Here is exactly what happens:

Your answers

Your responses are stored only in your own browser’s temporary session storage while you take a test, and they are automatically cleared when your session ends. We do not collect or store your raw answers on our servers. Only a test score can ever leave your device, and only when you choose to generate or save a report.

Personalized reports

To generate your report, the scores produced from your answers (for example, four dimension scores) — never your raw answers — are sent to a third-party AI service. These scores contain no identifying information. If you use “Save to My Reports”, the finished report and its scores are stored with your account so you can reopen them later; if you never save, nothing is retained.

Accounts

Taking a test needs no account. An optional, passwordless account (sign-in by email code) exists only if you want your reports saved so you can return to them. We store your email address and your saved reports; nothing else, and no passwords.

Purchases & access

Purchases are made through Etsy, so Etsy handles payment and receipts — we never see or store your card details. To unlock your test, we ask for your Etsy order number and the email address you used at checkout. We store that pair so you can re-unlock on your own devices without paying twice, and to keep a single purchase from being shared widely.

Analytics

We count anonymous, aggregated events (such as how often results are shared) to improve the product. These counts contain no personal data.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your saved reports and account at any time. Message us through our Etsy shop from the account or email you used and we will remove them.
