What this test measures
The assessment maps how each partner relates across five dimensions of close relationships — then shows where your patterns meet and where they pull apart.
Conflict & Repair
How you fight, and what it takes to feel settled again.
This dimension maps your instinctive rhythm when things get hard: whether you process alone before talking, whether you need explicit resolution before a conflict feels closed, and whether hurt makes you go quiet or push harder. Two people can love each other deeply and still run completely different repair scripts — one needs to talk it through tonight, the other genuinely cannot until tomorrow. Neither is wrong; unrecognized, the mismatch itself becomes the fight.
Closeness & Space
The rhythm of togetherness that lets you stay yourself.
This dimension is about pace and oxygen: how much time alone you genuinely need, whether quiet parallel presence counts as real closeness for you, how much structure you want in your shared time, and whether you ask for space directly or just take it. It's one of the most common silent mismatches in couples — one partner's baseline need for solitude registers to the other as distance, while the other's need for contact registers as pressure. Both needs are legitimate; the work is making them visible.
Future Architecture
The life you're actually building, and how you decide.
This dimension covers the practical skeleton of a shared life: financial instincts (structure versus flexibility), how central ambition and personal projects are to your identity, how concretely you imagine the future, and how much you want big decisions made jointly. Mismatches here are rarely about values — most couples want some version of security and some version of freedom. They're about sequence and emphasis: what gets secured first, and whose plans bend when lives need to merge.
Care & Expression
The language you feel loved in — and the one you speak.
This dimension is about how care is actually transmitted between you: practical acts, physical closeness, quiet doing, or small consistent gestures. The classic trap is that people express care in their own dialect and expect it to be received as fluently as it's sent — the partner who fixes, touches, remembers, or handles things, each believing they're obviously showing love. When dialects differ, both partners can feel chronically underfed while objectively giving plenty.
Growth & Friction
What you believe friction and change are for.
This dimension captures your orientation toward change: whether growth is deliberate work or something that happens, whether the relationship should be consciously renegotiated as you both evolve, how much ambiguity about the future you can comfortably hold, and whether friction reads as threat or as information. It shapes how a couple metabolizes their hardest seasons — partners aligned here treat difficulty as a shared project; partners misaligned here can agree on everything else and still feel alone in a crisis.
How it works
01
Answer separately
Partner A answers all 20 statements first, then hands over the device. Partner B answers the same statements independently — no comparing notes until both are done.
02
Compare dimension by dimension
Both profiles appear side by side across the 5 relationship dimensions, with gaps highlighted and labeled.
03
Read your couple report
A personalized report covers where you're naturally in sync, where you diverge, and how to talk about the friction spots.
Sample statements
Every statement is rated from “Almost never” to “Almost always”. Here are three from the actual test:
“When tension surfaces between us, I need some time alone to process before I can have a conversation that actually goes anywhere useful — jumping straight into talking usually makes it harder, not easier.”
“After a disagreement, I need a clear, explicit moment of resolution — a point where we've both said we're okay — before things genuinely feel settled. A conflict that just gradually fades without being addressed still sits with me.”
“When I feel hurt or misunderstood in an argument, my instinct is to pull back and go quiet rather than push harder to be heard.”

Frequently asked questions
How does the two-partner flow work?
You take the test on the same device, one after the other. Partner A answers all 20 statements first — results stay hidden. You then hand the device to Partner B, who answers the same 20 statements independently, without discussing answers beforehand. Only when both of you are done does the combined result appear.
Is this a compatibility verdict?
No — and that's deliberate. A low overall alignment score isn't a prediction of failure, and a high one isn't a promise. Differences are information about where deliberate attention is needed, not verdicts about the relationship. The most useful part of the report is usually the map of where the gaps actually are.
How long does it take?
About 10 minutes in total — 20 statements for each partner, each rated on a 5-point scale. Your combined report is generated instantly when the second partner finishes.
I purchased on Etsy — how do I use the test?
The test is included in your purchase, and one purchase covers both partners. To unlock it, open the unlock page and enter your Etsy order number plus the email you used at checkout — your browser then keeps the test available for about a year. No account is needed to take it.
What is a relationship constellation?
Your constellation is a named profile describing the overall shape of your alignment — for example, 'The Deep Divers' (resonance across nearly all dimensions) or 'The High-Contrast Pair' (differences as the central theme). It's a starting point for conversation, not a category either of you is locked into.
Are our answers stored anywhere?
No. Both partners' answers live only in your browser's temporary session storage while you take the test, and they're cleared when your session ends. We don't store your raw answers on our servers. Only if you choose to save a report does the scored result get stored with your account, so you can reopen it later.
