What this test measures
The assessment maps how you relate across the dimensions below — each one a spectrum, not a box.
The Abandoned Child
A part of you still listens for footsteps that might not return.
This dimension describes a younger self who learned early that connection could disappear without warning. A delayed reply, an uninvited gathering, a quiet goodbye — and something in you drops back into the ache of being left. This is not neediness; it is a nervous system that stayed alert to separation in order to survive it. The same sensitivity that watches for distance is also what makes you deeply loyal and finely attuned to the people you love. The work here is not to stop caring, but to let the adult you are now stand beside the child who is still waiting.
The Criticized Child
An inner judge learned to speak before anyone else could.
Here lives the child who learned that love had to be earned. A harsh inner voice arrives the moment you slip, turning a small mistake into proof that you are fundamentally flawed. Praise feels conditional, rest feels undeserved, and being truly seen can feel dangerous. This is not vanity or weakness — it is a protective strategy: if you are flawless, no one can find a reason to turn away. The same drive that criticizes you is also what makes you careful, capable, and remarkably aware of other people. The work is to let the judge step back and let the child be ordinary and still worthy.
The Parentified Child
You became the steady one long before you were allowed to be small.
Here is the child who grew up early. You learned to read the room, absorb the tension, and hold things together, because someone had to. Independence became a shield: asking for help feels unnatural, playing feels guilty, and being the strong one for everyone has quietly become part of who you are. This is not coldness; it is a young person who learned that survival meant carrying what the adults could not. The same capacity makes you deeply reliable, perceptive, and steady when everything feels urgent. The work is to let the dependable one be cared for too, without it costing you everything.
Inner Reparenting & Compassion
You can become the steady, kind adult your younger self needed.
This dimension describes your capacity to hold yourself with care. When a trigger fires, you can pause and meet the small, scared part of you with the voice of a steady, protective adult. You can rest without earning it, grieve without justifying it, and take your own childhood pain seriously instead of calling it dramatic. This is what makes the wounds workable — not the absence of old hurt, but a reliable inner ally for it. It is deeply trainable, and it tends to be the single most protective quality in this profile.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a medical or diagnostic test?
No. This is a gentle self-reflection tool that maps how strongly different inner child wounds and reparenting capacities show up in your everyday life. It cannot diagnose a condition, and no score here is a clinical finding. Because inner child work can touch tender material, if this topic brings up something painful, or if you are seeking assessment or treatment, please consider reaching out to a qualified professional.
How long does the test take?
About 10 minutes. There are 20 statements, each rated on a 4-point scale, and your personalized report is generated instantly when you finish.
I purchased on Etsy — how do I use the test?
The test is included in your purchase, with no separate code to redeem. To unlock it, open the unlock page and enter your Etsy order number plus the email you used at checkout — your browser then keeps the test available for about a year. No account is needed to take it.
What is an inner child constellation?
Your constellation is a named profile reflecting which of the four dimensions is most prominent — for example, 'The Longing Child' (abandonment leads), 'The Guarded Achiever' (criticism leads), 'The Little Grown-Up' (parentification leads), or 'The Compassionate Reparenter' (reparenting agency leads). When your two highest dimensions are close, your profile adds undertones of the second, like 'The Little Grown-Up with Inner Reparenting & Compassion Undertones'.
What do the intensity levels mean?
Each dimension is scored 1.0–4.0 and mapped to four levels: Subtle, Mild, Moderate, and Strong. Subtle means the trait barely registers in daily life; Strong means it is a core part of how you move through the world. None of the levels is better or worse — they describe texture, not quality.
Are my answers stored anywhere?
No. Your answers live only in your own browser's temporary session storage while you take the test, and they are cleared when your session ends. We do not store your raw answers on our servers. Only if you choose to save a report does the scored result get stored with your account, so you can reopen it later.
About six minutes from now, you could see your pattern clearly.
Your answers stay on your device — you just get the report.
