What this test measures

The assessment maps how you relate across the dimensions below — each one a spectrum, not a box.

Conflict Avoidance & Fawn

You keep the peace by reading the room and smoothing yourself into it.

A high score here describes a reflex that fires before thought: the moment tension enters a room, your body moves to soften it. You smile, lower your voice, agree, apologise for things that were never your fault. This is the fawn response — an old, intelligent strategy for staying safe in environments where friction felt dangerous. It makes you extraordinarily easy to be around and deeply attuned to other people's moods. The cost is that your own preferences and honest opinions can dissolve in the same instant, so the peace you protect is often bought with a quiet self-suppression.

Emotional Porosity & Over-Responsibility

Other people's feelings move through you as if they were your own.

A high score here points to a nervous system with very thin emotional walls: other people's states land in your body before your mind has a say. When someone is stressed, you feel it physically. When their message reads short or flat, your mind starts a search for what you did wrong. This sensitivity is real and it is also a form of care — you are deeply invested in the wellbeing of the people around you. The strain comes when their moods become your obligation, and you carry responsibility for emotions that were never yours to manage or repair.

Self-Erasure & Resentment

You shrink your own needs to make room — and quietly pay a price.

A high score here describes the inward turn of people-pleasing: not only do you accommodate others, but your own wants become hard to locate at all. Asked what you would like, you genuinely default to "whatever everyone else wants." Your rest and energy get quietly overwritten by other people's emergencies, and the accumulated cost often shows up as resentment — a bitter, private tiredness toward the very people you keep saying yes to. This is not ingratitude. It is what happens when sacrifice outruns expression, so giving turns into resentment instead of connection.

Boundary Agency & Assertive Autonomy

You know where you end and others begin — and you can say so.

A high score here describes something genuinely difficult: the ability to hold a clear, kind boundary without guilt. You can decline an invitation in one plain sentence, sit with someone's disappointment without collapsing your own choice, and let capable adults handle their own feelings. This is not coldness — it is the opposite. Clear boundaries protect closeness by keeping resentment out of it. When this dimension leads your profile, you can advocate for yourself calmly and let other people be responsible for their own experience without treating it as a withdrawal of care.

Sample statements

Every statement is rated from “Rarely / Never” to “Almost Always”. Here are three from the actual test:

“When someone nearby appears tense or annoyed, my automatic bodily reflex is to smile nervously, soften my posture, and act extra gentle just to calm the room.”
“When asked for a favor on the spot, I blur out "yes" before evaluating my own schedule, driven by an acute panic that pausing to hesitate will look bad.”
“If an incorrect order arrives or someone takes my seat, I quietly accept it rather than speak up and endure the awkwardness of correcting them.”

Frequently asked questions

Is this a medical or diagnostic test?

No. This is a self-discovery tool that maps how strongly different people-pleasing and boundary patterns show up in your everyday life. It cannot diagnose a condition, and no score here is a clinical finding. If you are seeking assessment or treatment, that is a conversation for a qualified professional.

How long does the test take?

About 7 minutes. There are 20 statements, each rated on a 4-point scale, and your personalized report is generated instantly when you finish.

I purchased on Etsy — how do I use the test?

The test is included in your purchase, with no separate code to redeem. To unlock it, open the unlock page and enter your Etsy order number plus the email you used at checkout — your browser then keeps the test available for about a year. No account is needed to take it.

What is a boundary profile constellation?

Your constellation is a named profile reflecting which of the four dimensions is most prominent — for example, 'The Peacekeeper' (conflict avoidance leads), 'The Emotional Sponge' (emotional porosity leads), 'The Quiet Martyr' (self-erasure leads), or 'The Grounded Advocate' (boundary agency leads). When your two highest dimensions are close, your profile adds undertones of the second, like 'The Peacekeeper with Emotional Porosity Undertones'.

What do the intensity levels mean?

Each dimension is scored 1.0–4.0 and mapped to four levels: Subtle, Mild, Moderate, and Strong. Subtle means the trait barely registers in daily life; Strong means it is a core part of how you relate to people. None of the levels is better or worse — they describe texture, not quality.

Are my answers stored anywhere?

No. Your answers live only in your own browser's temporary session storage while you take the test, and they are cleared when your session ends. We do not store your raw answers on our servers. Only if you choose to save a report does the scored result get stored with your account, so you can reopen it later.

About six minutes from now, you could see your pattern clearly.

Your answers stay on your device — you just get the report.
