What this test measures

The assessment maps how you relate across the dimensions below — each one a spectrum, not a box.

Cervicofacial & Jaw Armor

Your jaw, neck, and shoulders brace to hold the line before pressure arrives.

A high score here describes a body that guards from the top down: the jaw clenched, the shoulders lifted toward the ears, the muscles at the base of the skull quietly braced. This is protective tension — a system staying ready to meet pressure before it arrives, often without your conscious permission. You may notice it as tension headaches, a tight throat when emotions rise, or a neck that cannot fully let go of your head's weight at night. Naming this pattern is not a criticism; it is simply noticing where your body has learned to hold the line.

Visceral Gut & Diaphragmatic Freeze

Your breath stays shallow and your core holds what your mind cannot voice.

A high score here describes a core that stays tight and a breath that stays shallow. The diaphragm — meant to move freely with every inhale — instead holds, and stress lands directly in the gut. You may notice yourself bracing your belly, catching your breath over notifications, feeling a knot beneath the sternum, or watching digestion shift with unresolved conflict. This is the body keeping its centre protected and reading the world through the gut-brain axis. It is not fragility; it is a system braced for impact, and it responds well to slow, deliberate breathing and warmth.

Somatic Dissociation & Immobility

When overload hits, your body goes quiet and far away.

A high score here describes a body that goes distant when stress runs high. Cold hands and feet, heaviness in the limbs, and a muted sense of your own physical boundary can appear as the system withdraws to protect you. You might move through overload living mostly in your head, overlooking hunger or fatigue until your body calls a halt. This is not absence or indifference — it is a survival response that turns the volume down on sensation. Meeting it gently, rather than pushing through, is how the body begins to feel safe enough to come back.

Interoceptive Agency & Grounding

You can read your body's signals early and find your way back to ground.

A high score here describes a well-developed sense of your inner landscape. You can locate subtle sensations in real time, use a long sigh or the contact of your feet on the floor to steady yourself, and let your own touch be soothing. This is interoceptive agency — the ability to read the body's signals early and respond before stress piles up. It is the dimension that makes everything else workable: not the absence of tension, but a reliable, embodied way to meet it with care and find your way back to ground.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a medical or diagnostic test?

No. This is a self-discovery tool informed by somatic and interoceptive approaches that maps where your body tends to store stress. It cannot diagnose a condition, and no score here is a clinical finding. If you have persistent or worsening physical symptoms, please have them checked by a qualified medical professional.

How long does the test take?

About 8 minutes. There are 20 statements, each rated on a 4-point scale, and your personalized report is generated instantly when you finish.

I purchased on Etsy — how do I use the test?

The test is included in your purchase, with no separate code to redeem. To unlock it, open the unlock page and enter your Etsy order number plus the email you used at checkout — your browser then keeps the test available for about a year. No account is needed to take it.

What is a body-map constellation?

Your body-map constellation is a named profile reflecting which of the four dimensions is most prominent — for example, 'The Braced Guard' (jaw armor leads), 'The Held Breath' (gut and diaphragm tension leads), 'The Far-Away Body' (somatic dissociation leads), or 'The Grounded Listener' (interoceptive grounding leads). When your two highest dimensions are close, your profile adds undertones of the second, like 'The Held Breath with Jaw Armor Undertones'.

What do the intensity levels mean?

Each dimension is scored 1.0–4.0 and mapped to four levels: Subtle, Mild, Moderate, and Strong. Subtle means the pattern barely registers in daily life; Strong means it is a core part of how your body carries stress — or, for the grounding dimension, how attuned and settled you already are. None of the levels is better or worse — they describe texture, not quality.

Are my answers stored anywhere?

No. Your answers live only in your own browser's temporary session storage while you take the test, and they are cleared when your session ends. We do not store your raw answers on our servers. Only if you choose to save a report does the scored result get stored with your account, so you can reopen it later.

About six minutes from now, you could see your pattern clearly.

Your answers stay on your device — you just get the report.
